Proudly Made in Africa Announced as Supporting Partner for Fashion Africa Conference, London

                                                                                                      

Trade facilitation NGO, Proudly Made in Africa, has been announced as supporting partner of the 2017 Fashion Africa Conference, Chelsea Old Town Hall, London, May 25 – 26.

Europe’s largest conference on African Fashion returns to London this May, featuring two days’ of appearances by a stellar line-up of speakers from the global fashion industry, as well as an evening social event, hosted by Proudly Made in Africa.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Orsola de Castro, ethical fashion designer, winner of the 2017 H&M Conscious Award, and co-founder of Fashion Revolution;
  • Simone Cipriani, Head of the Ethical Fashion Initiative;
  • Bernie Seb, founder of De la Sebure and winner of the 2017 Sustainable Fashion Award from the African Social Enterprise Fund; and
  • Albert Tucker, Director of Karma Cola UK, Chairman of Etico ethical trading company, and leading fair trade advocate. 

The stunning Chelsea Old Town Hall (King’s Road, London SW3 5EE) will provide the backdrop for two days of discussion on the theme ‘Africa: Fashion’s Future’. Trade buyers, designers, manufacturers, retailers, policymakers, academics, advocates and members of the press will gather to connect, share knowledge, raise the profile of African fashion and consider what lies ahead for the vibrant fashion industry on and from the continent, in the context of this most globalised of international industries. The premier annual event for all those interested in designing, making or sourcing fashion from Africa, the conference will bring supply chain stakeholders together, and the packed schedule of speakers will impart their professional insight and advice for embracing opportunities, and overcoming the challenges associated with the business of fashion.

A celebration of International Africa Day, Day 1 of the conference, Thursday May 25, will close with an opportunity to relax and unwind as Proudly Made in Africa host a special social evening from 6pm – 8pm. With light refreshments, and atmospheric tunes provided by DJ S Klass, attendees will have ample opportunity to browse the array of African design on show, to mingle with the day’s speakers, to network with industry professionals, and to enjoy the uniquely African atmosphere coming to Chelsea for one night only.
